Lead / Staff Fullstack (PHP+JS) - Fast Response Engineer

About the role

We’re looking for a Staff Full Stack Engineer to join the Fast Response team within the Gaming division. The team consists of 9 engineers and is responsible for keeping products across all Gaming brands running smoothly – from critical bugs and urgent incidents to triage, root-cause analysis and permanent fixes.

You’ll become a trusted escalation point for the team, allowing Principal Engineers to focus on long-term strategic initiatives.

You won’t just be closing tickets – you’ll be:

• Making technical decisions and choosing the right solutions.
• Influencing architecture, engineering standards and the way the team works.
• Building and improving triage and incident management processes rather than just fixing symptoms.
• Mentoring team members while remaining hands-on with coding.

This is a full stack role. The main tech stack is PHP (Laravel / Symfony) with a modern JavaScript / TypeScript frontend (React / Vue), but we are not tied to a specific programming language. If you’re a Staff Full Stack Engineer working with Java, Node.js, .NET or Go, you’re welcome too.

Your impact

• You’ll play a key role in maintaining the stability and performance of a platform with over a billion visits annually.
• You’ll directly influence the reliability, performance, uptime and response times of products used across more than 100 countries.
• You’ll be part of the re-architecture of the publishing platform into a white-label, multi-tenant product using Domain-Driven Design.
• You’ll help shape the engineering standards of the new Bratislava engineering hub.

What you’ll do

• Quickly diagnose and resolve production issues across all Gaming products.
• Investigate, prioritise and resolve complex bugs to minimise customer impact.
• Build and improve triage processes to ensure the team responds to incidents quickly and consistently.
• Collaborate across engineering teams to identify root causes, implement permanent fixes and prevent recurring issues.
• Work with legacy systems and multiple repositories while maintaining platform stability.
• Improve monitoring, observability, alerting, documentation and runbooks.
• Handle third-party and vendor integrations.
• Make technical decisions, establish engineering standards and conduct code reviews.
• Mentor and provide technical leadership to other team members.

Requirements

• Staff-level engineer (strong Senior) – assessed by the quality of technical decisions, project complexity and hands-on capabilities rather than years of experience.
• Full stack profile – comfortable coding on both the backend and frontend.
• Strong HTML and CSS skills (the only strict technology requirement – otherwise, we are tech stack agnostic).
• Architectural experience – capable of making independent technical decisions and defining technical direction.
• Experience with large-scale B2C / consumer-facing web applications.
• Production systems experience – debugging, root-cause analysis and incident resolution across multiple services.
• A structured approach to incident management and continuous improvement.
• Ability to independently navigate legacy codebases and multiple repositories.
• Ability to balance speed and quality in a high-priority environment.
• Strong communication skills and English proficiency (international team).

Nice to have

• PHP (Laravel / Symfony) and React / Vue – an advantage, as these are the technologies used in day-to-day work.
• Experience in operational engineering, platform support or a fast-response team.
• Familiarity with monitoring, observability and incident management tools.
• AWS or cloud-native infrastructure experience.
• Experience in the iGaming / sports betting industry.
• Tailwind and Contentful.
• Experience with vendor and third-party integrations.
